There was once a time, in the very early years of poker games and tournaments that the only way to get ahead in the game and cultivate some kind of reputation as master poker player was through years of hard work, dedication, careful observation and of course hours upon hours of card games around the poker table. To gain any kind of insight at all into the inner working of the game and to find an effective system of coming out on top consistently, you had to rely on your own ingenuity and perseverance and perhaps a bit of instruction from a master poker player who of course you hope would have considerably more experience than you.
