Same thing I thought. But from age 21 to 23 i lost about $3,000 and now hate casinos…

poker is not an art. it is gambling. it is a game of numbers and percentages along with insticts that come with experience. you WILL make money in the long run if you have a plan and are disciplined. it is game that brings out your impulsive side. and it can over take your life. i am a pro.

Love it, but I cant bluff so I play craps. Which is sorta capitalist but you don’t have the edge so in a way its more capitalist because your a small business vs big corporations ie the Casino. If you win its more glorious.

    Im sorry

poker players are risk takers. Great players take a small edge and play it out thousands of times. Just like a casino.

In poker it is man to man. A zero sum game. There will be winners are losers. Sounds like a capitalist game to me.

If yout hate poker, be a communist.

uncertain outcome…is most def gambling…a certain outcome would be considered a long-term profit to me…thus it is not gambling…thanks guys

Gambling is the wagering of money or something of material value on an event with an uncertain outcome with the primary intent of winning additional money and/or material goods. Typically, the outcome of the wager is evident within a short period. (POKER FALLS UNDER THIS DEFINITION).

@spankykirky everyone talks about the long term…the long term….the long term. GUESS WHAT BUDDY, you live the short term. you live in the present. Habbits and addiction can develop well before the LONG TERM can show profits. GET A CLUE…if you are a winning player i woiuld LOVE to see you in 5-10 years.

  • 19 January 20103:00 pm spankykirky

then why do i play it for a living? bc its a game of skill…you just cant comprehend it thus its gambling to you…thanks

Poker is def not an art! haha People only play it because of money! Poker is the worst form of gambling because it has you thinking you have control but you don’t! I can can call an all in with aces and still get beat! It’s still a gamble!

  • 19 January 20104:48 pm melonheadyt

    I give it a D-

  • 19 January 20105:13 pm spankykirky

poker is gambling to those who are not skilled in the game…in fact, it is not gambling at all it’s an art and can produce a plus expected value of money in the long-term for those who are SKILLED…it’s the truth…most people are not skilled enough to win thus they write it off as gambling bc they are NOT GOOD ENOUGH…example, stock market is the same as poker…profitable decisions in the LONG-TERM WILL SHOW PROFITS

  • 19 January 20105:49 pm frankiedetorie

    I make thousands playing poker.

Gambling is just a re assortment of money to people who are smarter

    Survival of the fittest.

If you dont like it. Be a communist.

  • 19 January 20107:45 pm pullamacgyver

I hope you failed. That was awful. Putting some websites at the end doesn’t make it okay to just spew out random facts without proper cites. You obviously play poker and made a shit video for a shit class.

I have personally lost over 200K in gambling and now know that it is an issue of making decissions based on emotion and not sound long term planning. Instant pleasure and false hope was my motivation. It has been heart ache, shame, loss, and big time stress. I have had many jobs in my time, before and during my time as a gambler, just as much of a problem and caused by the same bad decission making. You could burn all the casinos down but it would not have fixed the problem.

O ye who believe! Intoxicants and gambling, (dedication of) stones, and (divination by) arrows, r an abomination, of Satan’s handwork: eschew such (abomination), that ye may prosper.
Satan’s plan is (but) to excite enmity n hatred between you, with intoxicants n gambling, and hinder you from the remembrance of Allah, and from prayer: will ye not then abstain? Quran 5: 90-91

The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said “Whatever intoxicates in a greater quantity is also unlawful in a small quantity.”
